I reattached the exhaust, donuts and all.

I used the jack + a 2×4 to hold the exhaust system up while I guided both ends where they needed to go.

I put in the new oil pressure gauge and copper line. (No Leaks so far!)

I put her real battery back in.

I sprayed some ether into the carb.

I turned the key…

AND SHE STARTED. AND SHE RAN. AND SHE RAN WELL.

Slight fuel seepage at where the fuel filter connects to the carb, but that’s an easy fix.

Some smoke and burning from the exhaust system, but I assume that’s the new donuts burning in.

Unbelievable.

Guys, I don’t want to get over my skis on this, but most of me wants to say that the dirty carbuerator with bent mixture screws has been the problem all along.

She ran for a good 20 minutes tonight with only a slight adjustment to the idle screw. No timing adjustments, no idle mixture toying, no vacuum gauge. Obviously I’ll still do all that, but it ran great.

LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH!

I’d love to inundate you with inanity!
