A few weeks ago, when I decided to “swap out the heater motor” – an affair which ended in flames – I had to remove the glovebox.

Without going into too much detail, the glovebox in a 1965 Mustang was about as solid as the boxes you get from Amazon every day. Literally. It’s cardboard. With metal grommets.

Whatever. The point here is that I had to remove decades of paperwork and parts from the glovebox to remove it. I didn’t really have time to explore the ephemera at the time, but I have a few minutes today, so let’s dig in:

Not sure if this was the last time the oil was changed before it got to me, but it wouldn’t surprise me

There was some documentation in here, too… pretty interesting history here.

I’m not sure when the fellow I got it from (Tracey) got the car, but I have to imagine it was in the last 5 years or so.

A listing for it from a dealership in Mount Vernon, WA is still online.

But the majority of the documentation in the glovebox was from a fellow in Stanwood, WA named Dennis J. Kitchen(s).

The S is parenthetic because some of the documentation has it and some do not – including signatures.

Mr. Kitchens purchased ol’ Emma back on the 7th of September 2002 for a lusty $7,927 – or about $14,200 in today’s money.

Kinda feeling good about what I paid for Emma now.

Anyway, of course I looked Mr. Kitchens up, because I’m nothing if not an able-bodied stalker. Uncle Sugar taught me well.

I’m afraid the news is not great.

RIP, buddy. I’ll take good care of her.

On a side note….this tire description sure sounds an awful lot like what is on her currently…

Let’s hope she hasn’t been wearing the same shoes for 22 years.

LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH!

I’d love to inundate you with inanity!
